Submission Guidelines

Submit to Inkwell

Inkwell, a literary journal published by the MFA program at Manhattanville College, welcomes submissions in English of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, memoir, graphic novels, visual art, and genre-blurring work, as well as translations. We are interested in both established and new voices, including voices that have been historically under-represented.

Submissions are accepted between May 1 and November 15. Publication is in the spring.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions are only accepted online through Submittable. Mailed submissions will be returned by SASE unread.

Please send between 3 – 5 poems, or one short story, piece of creative nonfiction, graphic story-telling or cross-genre writing, or three pieces of visual art at a time. Please wait for a response before resubmitting. Response times may be 8 to 10 weeks. We have no set maximum length or minimum length, though most of our submissions are between 3,000-6,000 words. We will print what we believe to be the best possible work.

We accept work only online, through Submittable. We do not accept work that has been previously published. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please notify us immediately if your piece is taken elsewhere.
